John A Convery

John A Convery

John A. Convery is a partner in the San Antonio firm Hasdorff & Convery, P.C., and a graduate of The Catholic University of America (1979), and St. Mary's University School of Law (JD 1983).

Mr. Convery is a specialist in criminal law, board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, representing individuals and business entities at trial and on appeal in federal, military, and state courts in Texas and elsewhere. He was an associate lawyer with Goldstein, Goldstein & Hilley in San Antonio, and with Alter & Cohen in Frankfurt, Germany, defending active duty military personnel as civilian counsel in courts-martial and administrative hearings throughout Europe.

Active in Bar and professional activities, Mr. Convery has in the past served as a Council Member of the Criminal Justice Section, American Bar Association (ABA),  and as a member of the ABA President's Immigration Coordinating Committee. He has served as Secretary of the San Antonio Bar Association, and Chair of the SABA Criminal Law and Procedure Committee and was recently presented with a SABA "President's Award", for outstanding service over several years as Course Director for the Judge A.A. Semaan Criminal Law Institute.

As Criminal Justice Act Panel Representative for the federal courts of the 5th Circuit, and Western District of Texas, Mr. Convery is a member of the Defense Service Advisory Group of The Administrative Office of U.S. Courts. John is a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), a past member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) Board of Directors, and a past president of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association SACDLA). A frequent CLE author and speaker at seminars for national, state, and local lawyer associations, he has been included in the list of criminal law Best Lawyers in America/U.S. News Media Group, as well as "Texas Super Lawyers" [2003 to present] published by Texas Monthly Magazine/Law & Politics.
